Now, WordPress is expected to unleash its sea change with an update named for Gutenberg. The name itself signals just how big this update will be.

The new Gutenberg WordPress editor is expected sometime in April, which makes the timing of this year’s WordCamp Atlanta especially fortuitous. The April 13-15 event will include Q&A sessions and networking—much of which may focus on the significant changes in WordPress. Being one of the very first to gain insights into these changes will be a big “leg up” for anyone attending.

With Gutenberg currently in its beta testing phase, existing WordPress publishers probably haven’t noticed anything in the works. In fact, there may have been a little signal for busy bloggers to even know that this update is in the works. This is especially true on a platform like WordPress, which has been famously and mostly consistent with its platform for years now.

What will Gutenberg mean to designers, bloggers, businesses and marketers? Will it introduce a similar “sea change” when it comes to online publishing, or will it merely require a few tweaks from the perspective of WordPress users? Those are the answers that you can expect to find when attending WordCamp Atlanta.

Gutenberg Sessions at WordCamp Atlanta

If you’re hungry for Gutenberg, you’ll want to check out these sessions at WordCamp Atlanta.

Friday 13th (9:00 AM-3:00 PM) Developer Session: Gutenberg Development – check out this discussion between Aaron Reimann and Micah Wood about this WordCamp Atlanta Friday development “track.”

Saturday 14th, 11:00 AM-12:00 PM: Exploring Gutenberg as a Developer Session, Marty Eason.

Saturday 14th, 2:00 PM-3:00 PM: Getting Started with Gutenberg Block Development, Rich Tabor.

Sunday 15th, 11:00 AM-12:00 PM: Creating a Gutenberg Block, Micah Wood.

See the full list of sessions.

Where to Find Information About Gutenberg

There’s information about Gutenberg online, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have someone there who’s ready to explain it to you.

You can find a “first look” video and slides at A Brighter Web.
